Default Excel restarts

I just bought the Home Student 2007 of Office. I'm running Vista Home
Premium. All this is on a computer I built myself.
Whenever I open Excel and try to select a font color... Excel freezes for a
second then restarts, a second attempt will close Excel. The product is
registered and updated...
Anyone have any suggestions... ??

How long since you built it? If this is a new build, possibly you got a bad
RAM chip. Might start by downloading MemTest86+ from http://www.memtest.org/
building a boot disk with it and letting it run overnight to see if it
reports any memory problem. If nothing else, it may rule out a potential
hardware problem.

Other than that, my other recommendation would be to first try a repair
install of Office/Excel, and if that doesn't help, then uninstall and
reinstall. Wait some days before activating so you don't use another
unnecessarily - not until you know it is working properly.
