Default How to change the default format for date?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change the default format for date?
The default format for date is mm/dd/yy, does it come from the OS?
How to change the default date format into dd/mm/yy?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

You could try changing a windows setting.

In WinXP Home
Go to the control panel
Regional and language options
Regional Options Tab|click the customize button
Change the short data format to the order that you want.

Be aware that this windows setting affects all of windows--you'll see the dates
in the same order in windows explorer (for example).
