Default Text to Numeric format

SORRY if this is duplicate.
I am importing dates from another application and they come in as text.
(unable to change that).
Now I want to change the format to dates. The format cell option does not
work. BUT if I press F2 on the cell and then enter, it changes it to a date
format. How can I do thsi without having to press F2 in each cell ?????????

Hi
try:
- copy an empty cell
- select your imported data
- Goto 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose 'Add'
