Default Editing a formula

When editing a formula, the cells referenced therein appear in different
colors with the actual cells refered to in the formula having a matching
color box around the location.
Usually the 4 corners of the box are solid squares which make the
highlighted box easier to see.

My problem is that my boxes are just highlighted with a thin outline which I
can barely see.
