Default Why do consolidation ranges in pivot tables not show field names

I am trying to combine 3 sets of data with identical column names into a
single pivot table. However, when I go to modify the layout, all I see is
"row", "column", "value", and "page" rather than the actual column headings.
What am I doing wrong?
