How can I get cells to format data in this manner automatically?
Kym Brakler 652-458-8879-H 652-787-2575-C I received a spreadsheet where the data automatically displays this way in some cells. In other cells the data needs to be entered with many spaces (Wrap test on) to get the data to line up correctly. When I look on the Format, Number tab, it shows a square between the data segments in the sample box for the data shown above. Thanks in advance! |

You want to use Alt + Enter in a cell to add a carriage return to the cell
contents. -- HTH... Jim Thomlinson "chiefwidmer" wrote: How can I get cells to format data in this manner automatically? The Alt+Enter would be how you would enter new material
it automatically also turns on wrap text. But it seems you have data already correctly entered having square bullets which means an unprintable character in the current font and for which you want to turn on wrap text from Format, Cells, Alignment, wrap text. Of course they could be some other character, in which case you might use change (Ctrl+H) and paste in the from, then code the CHAR(10) by using Alt+0010 using digits on numeric keypad, or from a laptop with Fn+Alt+0010 using digits represented for a numeric keypad. -- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP -- Excel My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm "Jim Thomlinson" wrote in message ...
