Default Excel 2007 - cell borders not visible when cells colored

In Excel 2007, when cells are colored, the cell borders are not visible. Is
it possible to enable the borders when cells are colored?

I have always eliminated the gridlines from spreadsheets and, so, hadn't
noticed this behavior in 2007. After experimenting with it a little though,
it appears shading ddoes overwrite the gridlines, so you will need to
actually format the cells with borders to make them appear *like* gridlines.

Shoot! That's what we were hoping wasn't the case. Thanks for your time!

Select the cells (all or just a few) that you would like to color the background. Go to Format Cells. Under Patterns select the color you would like for the cell backgrounds. Under border select first the colors of the gridlines you would like, Then select the line style (dashed, heavy, double, etc). Then press the Outline and the Inside buttons. This will give you colored cells with gridlines
