As soon as you close excel and reopen, excel's options for data|text to columns
are changed back to the defaults. So your testing will have to start with a Data|Text to columns--to change the options away from the defaults. Dave, Your reply seems to confirm the suggestion from the first responent. After spending some more time with the sptreadsheet I can't even reproduce the original problem now.
