Default Opening a Excel 2004 file in Excel 2002

When I try to open a file (workbook) in Excel 2002 that was saved saved in
Excel 2004, I get an error 90267010, wrong file format. What do I need to do?

Use 'Save As' and change the 'Save As Type:' to an earlier version.

XL 2004 is MAC format. 2002 is not.

That may have something to do with it although I don't deal with Macs so can't
say with a great deal of surety.
