Default Won't restart after close

My new Excel 2007 using Windows Vista works fine when the computer first
boots. After closing Excel, the only way to get it going again is to restart
the computer. If not I get a large blue box. The top is the line at the
bottom of the normal Excel spreadsheet, but blurry. I can resize the box,
but no spreadsheet appears. I'm clueless!!
