Default converting txt and cvs files

I need to import txt and cvs files and then be able to use them as numbers in
a data base and spreadsheet formula. Can you tell me how to do this? Thanks

A very simple way is to right click the Text file and select Open With and
select Excel from the list. That will display the data in new spreadsheet
in a form that you can manipulate as you need.
