Default excel windows

On the task bar...Windows/New window...I clicked it and it opens a duplicate
window each time I open the workbook and saves the duplicate window each time
I close it. How can I undo this

I do not understand. In Windows on the task bar there is no "duplicate". am I
looking in the wrong place?

Click on the window you want to close.
click ctrl-F4
Save the workbook the way you want it to open next time.
