Hi,
Do the following in the source document: 1. On the Tools menu, click Options. The Options dislog box is displayed. 2. Click the Calculation tab. 3. Under Calculation, verify that the Automatic option is selected. If this option is manual, then you have to press the F9 key refresh the display value in the target file. 4. Under Workbook Options, select the Update remote references and Save Externel link value check boxes. 4. Click OK to accept the setting. Note: Now any value you use in the target file, using paste Special caommand from the Edit menu, will automatically get refreshed. The stored value and the display value will synchronize automatically. Challa Prabhu "Ola2B" wrote: I have an excel file, let's call it A, that is linked to other source files (say B). The worksheets in this file A are individually protected. The problem I am having is everytime data in the source file (B) changes file A is not authomatically updated. To update I have to open file B the same time as file A. Is there not any better way to link the 2 files so that update is authomatic? Or could this be down to the fact that file A has protected worksheets??. Please help. |
