Default "Research" facility - odd problem

Keep running into the odd situation where clicking on any cell or button
(that isn't a personal macro button) opens a "Research" pane.

I don't think it's the Extended keyboard as "EXT" doesn't show in the status
bar.

The only way to break out of it is to run one of my personal macro buttons
or close Excel.

Does anyone know the proper way to cancel this or what causes it?

Cheers Giz
