I have 2 spreadsheets that I'm auditting line by line and need to re-sort
them now and again in sections for different views. I currently have certain columns hidden to view them side by side and make printing easier. My question is when I sort certain ranges, will it automatically include the hidden columns that fall within the range of my sort or will they be ignored since they're hidden? Example: A, C, E, F are hidden. My sort includes B - M. Will the columns C, E, F that are hidden be sorted with the rest? I know A will not unless I unhide it, which I can live with; it's the middle information I need to keep together. Thanks for the info. |

Hi N
Neither hidden rows or columns are included in the sorting process. When you sort a range in Excel, hidden rows and columns are included in the sort. This means that if you have hidden columns within the range you are sorting, they will be sorted along with the visible columns.
To ensure that the hidden columns are sorted correctly, you can unhide them temporarily before sorting and then hide them again after the sort is complete. Here are the steps to unhide and hide columns in Excel:
The hidden columns will now be hidden again, and the sorted range will include the hidden columns in the correct order.
