I have two questions, PLEASE HELP:
1) I need to find & replace values within certain columns only, for the entire workbook. I've tried selecting those columns before pressing CTRL + H, but it still replaces values outside of the range. I've also tried each setting of the advanced options, nothing works. 2) I need to replace values with a blank cell, I've tried "", and that actually places "" in the cell, I also don't want to just enter a space, because that's not actually blank, the space would be a character. Thanks! |

I don't have an answer to (1) - highlighting the range first has
always worked for me. As regards (2) - once you have highlighted the cells that you want to change, just press the <delete key. If you want to use Find & Replace, just leave the Replace With box completely blank. Hope this helps. Thanks, but unfortunately that doesn't work either. When I leave the replace
field blank it replaces it with a highlight format (as I specified), but it leaves the values there. Any other ideas? If you have ABCDEF in A1, and you replace C with a blank, what do you expect
it to be? Because it should be ABDEF after you have replace it, not AB DEF. If you want to replace the lot you put ABCDEF in the find what box and leave the replace with box empty and it will return a blank cell. Any of the above works fine for me. What do you mean by? "If you want to replace the lot you put ABCDEF in the find what box and leave
the replace with box empty and it will return a blank cell." That's excactly what I'm saying doesn't work. It does not replace the value with a blank cell. For ex. if the value was ABCDEF with no formatting, I want to change it to a blank cell with formatting (highlighting). So, currently it replaces the format just fine, but it does not replace the values with a blank, instead it highlights ABCDEF.
