Pivot table refreshing
Refresh will work unless your data field has grown beyond the data range
specified in your pivot table. "Daniel" wrote: If my data in the field is growing, can I hit "refresh data" so new data will be entered in my pivot table ? Or I have to make new pivot table ? If I have to make new table again so what is the meaning of refresh data ? Thanks for your help Daniel |

Why I hit refresh data at pivot table and new data in the field not enter pivot table? How do I know my data range beyond the range in data field? What shoud I do to choose a wide range in data field so I can use refresh data at pivot table? Pivot table refreshing
Perhaps you can use a dynamic range as the source:
http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot01.html Then if you add new data, it will be automatically detected when you refresh the pivot table. Pivot table refreshing
Hi,
i think its possible for you to use the refresh button if you you data has grown just make sure that the new data that you have included is with in the range of range that you have assigned in creating your pivot table. lets say for example, when you create the pivot table, you selected the range "A1:A100". now if you are planning to add more data make sure that you will insert those data with in the range "A1:A100" for example you will insert 2 new rows, you can insert it in between the "A1:A100" range so your new range will be "A1:A102" but if you will insert the new 2 rows after A100, thats is A101 and A102, when you hit the refresh button, it will not be added to your pivot table because its out of range. but if you inserted it in between the given range, when you hit the refresh button, it will be added your table coz its within the range. hope it can help you. Thanks! ^_^ "Debra Dalgleish" wrote: Perhaps you can use a dynamic range as the source: http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot01.html Then if you add new data, it will be automatically detected when you refresh the pivot table. Pivot table refreshing
Thanks badeth,
I think I have to use offset function because my data can grow fast. I am learning offset function now and don't want to limit A1:Axxx and don't know what other easy way to expand my data. Thanks again for your help Daniel "badeth" wrote: Hi, i think its possible for you to use the refresh button if you you data has grown just make sure that the new data that you have included is with in the range of range that you have assigned in creating your pivot table. lets say for example, when you create the pivot table, you selected the range "A1:A100". now if you are planning to add more data make sure that you will insert those data with in the range "A1:A100" for example you will insert 2 new rows, you can insert it in between the "A1:A100" range so your new range will be "A1:A102" but if you will insert the new 2 rows after A100, thats is A101 and A102, when you hit the refresh button, it will not be added to your pivot table because its out of range. but if you inserted it in between the given range, when you hit the refresh button, it will be added your table coz its within the range. hope it can help you.
