Default Why not allow users to link cell formats?

Why not include a feature for linking cell formats. Cells can be linked so
they will display the same data as in another cell, but you cannot link
format attributes. Why not allow the user to select a group of cells and
link their format attributes either separately or in any combination. When
the format for a cell was changed, it would change for all linked cells. For
example, ranges of cells associated with different shifts, in an employee
work schedule, could be linked to another cell in a color key or legend for
the schedule. Any change to the color in the legend would automatically
change the color of all cells for that named shift range.
