Default Unchecking radio button

I am trying to uncheck radio buttons in Excel. I set them up to be
independent of one another as I have to have the ability to select more than
one under a category. I also need the ability to deselect or uncheck a radio
button if it is mistakenly selected. I tried going under Design Mode, then
Properties, but I do not know what to change. Please help!
