if certain cells equal a name then i do not want other cells to have the same
name. For example: Cell B1 has NFL team names in a drop down menu, in cell C1
i do not want the same team to be selected as it was in B1.

Have a look at Debra Dalgleish's site he

http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal03.html

This covers hiding previously-selected items and should cover what you
want to do.

Hope this helps.

Data Validation.

(You might want to get your keyboard fixed, too: the Shift key seems
to work only intermittently.)
