can't open excel files from common folder

We have a common folder at work. Someone used my computer, and now I can't
open the excel files directly from the common folder (the word files still
work properly). Now I have to open the excel program, use the open function
to find the common folder, and then the excel files work, though it takes
more time. My shortcuts no longer work for the excel files in the common
folder. I hope this makes sense.

I think the network connection is removed. You do not seem to be connected to
the common folder anymore.

Thank you for your help Pranav. Now I just need to know how to reconnect
excel with the common folder. Thanks again!

Try the usual fix(es) for this problem.

ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar

1) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK.
2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.
