green mark in the top left corner of cells
 
whne i import data i sometimes get a green mark in the top left corner. This
screws up matching when doing a vlookup. how do i get rid of the green mark?

background error checking

It is not the error-checking arrow that is screwing up your VLOOKUP

The error-checking indicates inconsistent data like number stored as text.

See ToolsOptionsError Checking for options.
