Default Printing problems deskjet printer

We recently purchased an hp Deskjet 6980 printer, which is installed locally
to a PC and shared for others to use. The problem is when the users try to
print from Excel XP, it prints out only a blank page. It takes the paper in,
waits a couple seconds, and then feeds the paper out. There are no problems
printing from Word, Outlook, or test pages.

It's as if the data doesn't even get sent to the printer. I've tried
reinstalling the printer, installing it directly from the CD to each
computer, and running Office Update with no luck.

I contacted hp and they said to call Microsoft. However, Microsoft charges
for support. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.
