Default One value gives different drop menu in next column

See Debra's excellent site for example(s) of what you want:

Hi people!

is it possible to set up excel so that when you choose one value from one
drop down menu in column A, you get to have a certain set of drop down values
in column B assigned to that same value from Column A.

Example:

I have 3 sets of drop down menus. the first set is used in column A, the
second and third set acan be used in column but NOT simultaneously. my first
set has 2 possible values x and y. The first of the second set (set 1 for
column B) is attached to value x form the first set, while the other set (set
2 for column B) is realted to value y.

If I select x in Column A, then I can only select values from the set 1 in
column B. If I select y in column A, I can only select values from set 2 in
column B.

Anyone knows how to do this?
