i have a raw data worksheet, and i created another worksheet by
copying the raw data into it. after that, i performed some operations
on the new sheet, but then i realized that if i change the raw data,
it wont be reflected in the new sheet i created out of it. is there a
way to link the two worksheets now?

ruchie,

If you want linked data, you copy, then paste special - paste link to the linked place.
That puts a link to the original cell(s). You can't change the linked cells -- only the
originals. It's not a two-way street. If you mess with the cell containing the link, you
destroy it.

Note: Some folks prefer bottom-posting.
But if you bottom-post to a reply that's
already top-posted, the thread gets messy.

if you changed only the formatting Select the data you are interested in on
the first book copy, go to second book and paste special-paste link.

Hi Ruchie,
Let me put you problem like this:
In Sheet1, there is a RAW DATA (Eg. in cell A1 "Apple"; A2 "Boy" etc......)
and you copied it into Sheet2.
If you change the data in Sheet2 (Eg. in Cell A1 from "Apple" to "Ant")
the same should happen even in Sheet1.

There are two methods(Assume that you are in Sheet1):
1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Pagedown buttons
2. Press Ctrl and click on Sheet2

Whatever changes you make in Sheet2 will be applicable to Sheet1 also.
In the above case, Apple will be changed to Ant in both Sheet1 and Sheet2.

Don't copy and paste the data. Go to the second worksheet and link to the
data on the 1st by putting =A1 in the first block you want copied then you
can drag that link to the other fields you need on the second sheet. Then
enterwhatever operations you need. Then if the information on the first page
changes, it will automatically change on the second sheet.

I hope this is what you are looking for!

is there a way to link the data to the actual content, and not the
cell reference style?

Hi Ruchie,

Yes, there is way

1. Pess Ctrl+Another Worksheet Tab(Sheet2)

2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Page Down Buttons.

Whatever changes you make in RawData Worksheet(Sheet1), it will be reflected
in the Another Worksheet(Sheet2).

Hi Ruchie,

Yes, there way to link the two worksheets.

Let us assume that RAW DATA is in Sheet1(Eg. A1=Apple; A2=Boy; A3=Cat and so
on......)
COPIED DATA is in Sheet2

You want.... whatever changes made in Sheet1 should be reflected in Sheet2

Now coming to the solution:(Assume that you are in Sheet1)

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Page Down buttons(both Sheet1 and Sheet2 are highlighted)
2. Press Ctrl+Click on Sheet2 Tab(both Sheet1 and Sheet2 are highlighted)

You change the RAW DATA in Cell A1 from "Apple" to "Ant"(Sheet1)
The same will be reflected in COPIED DATA (Sheet2).
