Default Folders not displayed

We are runnnig Excel 2003 under XP pro with the data on an SBS/ server 2003.
When looking for folders from within the Excel "Open" icon - not all folders
are displayed. Mosty - but not all. When using the explore feature, the
folders show up.
Does anyone has any idea who to fix this? It also happens in Word 2003.
Thanks for any input!

In the "Files of type:" Dropdown at the bottom center of the dialog, change the
setting to "All Files".
