Default Excel 2007 is saving versions

When one of my users edits her Excel 2007 workbook (no macros) and then saves
and closes Excel, she must close 2 (or more) versions of the file! She is not
sharing the file and the editing does not save correctly. We tried
editing/saving in Compatibility mode and as an Excel 2007 without success.
Why is Excel 2007 saving more than one version of a file?

Thanks!
