Why does the hyphen symbol change size - width?
When you use the hyphen symbol, why do you get a short hyphen sometimes and
other times, it is wider? |

one is a hyphen and one is a dash and one is a minus sign:

From InsertSymbol?

Maybe you have an autocorrect entry set?
Tools|Autocorrect Options|Autocorrect tab. And you're sure you're not thinking of MSWord?
