Default Pivot Table - Not able to add field in the position I want

I have created many many pivot tables, but have never come across
anything like what I am experiencing. I have an existing pivot table
that I changed the datasource (MS Access db) for. The new datasource
has one additional field. I cannot put this new field in my pivot
table in the middle of my row fields. I can put it at the beginning
or at the end only. I have also tried to re-create a new one. When I
choose the row fields in the order that I really want, excel goes
through the motions of creating the pivot table and when it is done I
have a blank worksheet. If I choose the fields with the new one at
either end of the row fields I get a pivot table, but not the way I
want it. I can't even move the field once the PT is created. It
looks like it will do it, I can grab the column and drag to where I
want it, does nothing. I'm quite confused.

Has anyone had this experience and did you ever solve it?

Thanks,
Pat
