Default Excel switches back to default printer after a while

I have a user who says this just changed recently - I can't verify it because
when I use Excel, I'm in and out all day. Here's the deal - the user will
print an Excel spreadsheet and select a printer that is not his default
printer. In this case, the printer he selects is his local printer (a
network printer is his default). He will send things to this printer at
various times throughout the day. For some reason, the printer selection is
switching back to the default printer after 30 minutes or so. So I have a
2-part question - what changed that causes this to switch back to a different
printer and what can we do to stop it from doing this? The only thing I can
think of that might have changed is SP2...I know some machines just had this
applied, but I thought this user had it before this started happening.
