Default Inserting a simple checkbox that can be checked

Excel 2003. I'm trying to insert a simple checkbox that can be
checked. I realize that if I insert the checkbox from the Forms
toolbar that this will work, but I also need to increase the font of
the checkbox label. From my understanding, you can't do that with the
Forms toolbar checkbox. So, I've tried adding the checkbox from the
Control Tool box, but with this, I can only select the entire
checkbox, and it doesn't put a check in the box. How can I add this
simple checkbox AND increase the font of the label? Thanks.

It sounds like you're still in design mode.

Open the control toolbox tool bar.

The first icon on the top left is for design mode. Hover your mouse over
that icon and it will tell you what mode you're in. If it says: Exit design
mode then you're still in design mode and the checkbox is not yet active.
So, all you need to do is click on the design mode icon to exit design mode
and then it should work.

Oh, I forgot to tell you how to change the font.

Right click the checkbox and select Properties
Select Font and in the right side pane a drop down will be available with
all the font properties for you to select.
Make sure you exit design mode when you're done!
