Tim
It depends what the file contains from XL2007. Some will as 2007 is trying to stop users from changing things which will not round trip to 2007 when re-opened there. e.g some conditional formatting, pivot tables, etc Shouldn't be that way with all but still the best way to share workbooks is to save in 2007 as 97-2003 -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England DTHIS web: www.nickhodge.co.uk blog: www.nickhodge.co.uk/blog/ FREE UK OFFICE USER GROUP MEETING, MS READING, 27th APRIL 2007 www.officeusergroup.co.uk "Tim" wrote in message ... It appears that all spreadsheets created in Excel 2007 that are saved in the new XML format (xlsx) are opened as Read-Only files when opened on a machine running an older version of Excel (Excel 2003) after the Office 2007 Compatibility Update has been applied to that machine. Is this a known issue? -- Tim McDonald (MCSE) |
