Default COLOURING CELL BACK GROUNDS

When I export from MS Project to Excel, amongst other things I export the
start and finish variance. My client then wants to colour the background of
these variances in six different colours depending on how much lead and lag
there is for the variances. Using Excel conditional formatting and an IF
function I can achieve three colours and one €śno colour€ť but can someone
please tell me how to obtain six colours, again using IF functions.
