Default AutoComplete only includes recently typed entries?

Quick question -- it seems as though Excel's AutoComplete only remembers
items in a list typed during the active session. Is that correct? If I
close the file or program, re-open it and append the table, AutoComplete does
not pick up entries for any fields created prior to the most recent opening
of the file. I am using Excel 2000. Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks
