Default Why is Excel 07 only showing gridlines on part of the sheet?

Something similar happened to me when the following happened:

1) I opened an XL 07 document.

2) Right after, my firewall software displayed a pop up

3) The area of the spreadsheet that was covered by the firewall pop up was
whited out.

Fixing this entailed closing the document and re-opening it. As to why it
happens, or if this is what happened in your case, I don't know.

I have a sheet that was sent to me, and it is only showing gridlines on the
left side of the sheet. The box to show gridlines is already checked.
