Default Replace Function Removes Text Formats In Cell

With the Replace function, is there a way to change text in a cell without
losing the various formatting within a cell? In other words, if within a
cell the word Bird is bold but the word Dog is not, and I use the replace
function to change Dog to Cat, is there any way to retain Bird in bold?
