display months (in date format) in capital letters
Dear community friends,
Whenever I type a date format (yy-mm) excel exhibits the month in small letters. (Jan-07) Is there any option to show the same in capital letters? |

Answer: display months (in date format) in capital letters
Hi there!
Yes, there is an option to display months in capital letters in Excel. Here's how you can do it:
This will display the month abbreviation in capital letters followed by the year in two digits. For example, "JAN-07" for January 2007.

I believe the format Excel uses comes from the internals of Windows and
cannot be changed. -- Jim "srinivasan" wrote in message ... | Dear community friends, | Whenever I type a date format (yy-mm) excel exhibits the month in small | letters. (Jan-07) | Is there any option to show the same in capital letters? | |

You could use a helper cell:
=upper(text(a1,"mmm-yy")) srinivasan wrote: Dear community friends, Whenever I type a date format (yy-mm) excel exhibits the month in small letters. (Jan-07) Is there any option to show the same in capital letters? -- Dave Peterson |

display months (in date format) in capital letters
Hi Jim
That's interesting. I had thought it would be connected with Regional settings, but I could not see any way of adjusting this. If you choose French, then it always comes out in lower case of jan, fev etc., but all the versions of English come out as Jan, Feb etc. i.e. Proper case I had hoped that XL2007 would have given the opportunity of responding to the user input in Custom settings and given JAN if the user typed MMM, Jan for Mmm and jan for mmm but regrettably no, it remains the same as in all earlier versions of Excel. -- Regards Roger Govier "Jim Rech" wrote in message ...
