Default filtering out rows with duplicate information

I have a spreadsheet with about 2800 rows of information. 3 columns: ID#,
Name, & Fax number. The fax column contains several rows of duplicate fax
numbers. I am trying to remove or filter out the duplicate fax numbers using
the Advanced Filter tool. I'm following the instructions step by step but
it's not working and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Can someone help?

Default filtering out rows with duplicate information

I just figured out what I did wrong: I had opened a .csv in Excel, thinking
that it was in .xls format. As soon as I saved it as an Excel spreadsheet, it
worked.
