Default Time Stamps???????????

I need to pull a time stamp from access as to when a table was updated. My
users have a spread sheet that data links to a table in the access file. What
they need to know Is when the last record was entered into the database. If
no records have been added to a table since the last use, the user would see
the same date stamp that he would have seen previously. It the table had a
new record(s) the used would then see an updated time and he would know his
data is current as of the time stamp. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
