This is probably similar (if not the same) as the what Mark wrote on 25/9/2006.
I have a file which seems to continually keep users logged on. This eventually seems to be the cause of big delays in opening, closing and saving the file- I believe because Excel needs to view all open versions of the file before doing so. Eventually I believe it goes into a "read only" mode if too many are open. I have been thinking it is because we are on a network situation here and when people leave their computers turned on, the system locks and only that user can get in, so the next user simply turns the computer off and back on again. I Thought that this was causing the file (if it was open we turned off) to still remain open somewhere in excel land. More information I have just found out. I removed the excess users which were still recorded as logged on from a week earlier. I just went back in and found that users were back on the system- from earlier dates!! Given I just removed all but myself from the file, I don't see how this is happening. Any further information gathered by frustrated shared workbookers would be appreciated, as for various reasons I can't complete this on Access. -- Gai |
