Those are error-checking flags.
Doesn't necessarily mean you have an error, but perhaps the data or formula in those cells do not match adjacent cells. Or you could have a number formatted as text. ToolsOptionsError Checking will show the various resons for flags when error-checking is enabled. You can disable it or some of the options.
