Not sure if this is the right place to do this as I'm on a Mac - eMac 1 GHz
PowerPC G4 using OS X 10.4.8 w/Office 2004 for Mac - but here goes: I created a pretty large (300+ KB) Excel file with a lot of text in cells and a comment box in every cell in a particular column for about 250 rows. Things started out alright but, as the file got larger, I notice that as I click in a cell and then go to "Insert/Edit Commnet" the comment box opens some huge number of rows below the cell it is attached to. Never to the right or left of where it had been but always far lower, like 200 or 300 rows lower. There is not a set number of rows - it's just a lot. I can drag it back to where it belongs and it remains there while the file is open but if I close it and reopen it, that comment, and the comment in any other cell, will do the same thing. Is this a known bug? Is there fix? Other than breaking this file down into multiple files of smaller size? (And I don't know that size is the issue; it just seems to happen when these files get pretty big. |

I've never used a Mac, but on the WinTel machines, comments seem to have a mind
of their own. The closest thing I know to control them is to just use a macro that resets them back to where they belong. Debra Dalgleish has some code: http://contextures.com/xlcomments03.html#Reset If you're new to macros, you may want to read David McRitchie's intro at: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/getstarted.htm machi wrote: Not sure if this is the right place to do this as I'm on a Mac - eMac 1 GHz PowerPC G4 using OS X 10.4.8 w/Office 2004 for Mac - but here goes: I created a pretty large (300+ KB) Excel file with a lot of text in cells and a comment box in every cell in a particular column for about 250 rows.
