I believe Dependent Lists will solve your problem.....
See Debra Dalgleish's excellent coverage of them at her website: http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal02.html Please post back with any questions on how to use them in your scenario. Does that help? *********** Regards, Ron XL2002, WinXP "Eleanor" wrote: I'm trying to set up a database of information, which requires one column listing a surgery's name (eg The Medical Centre), then I want the choice of entries in the column next to it (for Doctor's name) to be dependent on the surgery name. Therefore, if 'The Medical Centre' is selected for the first list, then I want the inputter to only be able to choose Dr Joe and Dr Bloggs, who work there, etc etc. I'd like to do this because currently there are many errors made, with the wrong GP being assigned to the surgery. I've already got a data validation list going on for the surgery name. I don't know how to do this, although I've seen it on quite a few websites - when you select something from a drop down menu, the page refreshes, and the next drop-down is determined by your initial answer - ie with booking flights from/to different airports. |
