Default Pivottable won't count blank values

I'm doing a simple pivottable, showing a count of the different values in one
field of a table. The pivottable shows all the values, including "(blank)".
All the counts are shown, as expected, with the exception of the "(blank)"
value, which shows a blank instead of a count.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The pivot table can't count blank cells, so if you put a field (e.g.
Inquiries) in the row area, and Count of Inquiries in the data area, the
(blank) item will show nothing in the data area.

However, if you add a different field to the data area, you may see the
correct count. For example, if the Date field always has a value, add
that to the data area, and summarize by Count. The pivot table will then
show the count of records with a blank Inquiries field.

Text values. (Of course, the blank cells have no value, so I guess they're
neither text nor numbers.)

Seems weird that pivot tables won't count blank values. But thanks for your
suggestion.

Default Pivottable won't count blank values

I tried your suggestion - I added another field to the data area which always
has a value. It does count the blank values, but the table now looks messy.
My two fields are called Disposition (the one I want to count) and Company
(another field which always contains a value). When I started (before adding
Company), I saw only the counts in the data area. Now I see:
Count of Disposition
Count of Country

For the (blank) value, Count of Disposition is still blank, and Count of
Country has theh number I want. But is there any way to simply show the
counts? I've tried hiding the Count of Company, but then I again see a blank
instead of a count for the (blank) value.

Thanks.

Remove the Count of Disposition field, because it's not giving you the
count that you want. Leave Count of Company, and change its heading to
whatever you want, as long as it's not the name of an existing field in
the table.
