Default Excel 2003 in XP Pro x64 Edition

I have a brand new HP xw9400 Workstation 2.80 GHz and 4 GB of RAM with Excel
2003 and Windows XP Pro x64 Edition which is now running my spreadsheets (12
to 40 MB) much slower than my old HP Compaq nc 6230 laptop.

Is there a compatibility issue with Excel 2003 and XP Pro x64? The
calculations take forever which is killing my productivity.

Working on analysis, I need fast response time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
