Default Counting None Hidden Lines

HI,
Is there a way to count only the lines that show after you sort a spread
sheet.
I need to count the lines on a spread sheet after you filter it. When you
highlight the rows it counts the hidden lines as well. IF you put a separate
column in to count wouldn't it count the hidden lines as well?
any ideas or formulas I might be able to use.

Thanks.
