Default Photos quality?

Hi, i have an excel sheet containing 18 workbooks each contains 2 photos.

I want to email this sheet but its size is around 30MB so i tried to
decrease the photos quality by dbl clicking on the photo and then click on
compress photo, i selected E-mail quality.

The strange thing is that the file size increased! (to around 105MB).

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

What format are your photos in? .jpg, .tif, .bmp, .gif etc? Different
formats result in different sizes. .bmp being the worst of the lot.

You probably need to use some graphic file editing software to take your
original photos and either change the file type of them to reduce their size
and/or also resize them to make them smaller. Then delete the photos in the
Excel workbooks and insert the new ones. There is a very good, free
application that can help with this if you don't already have one: IrfanView
from www.IrfanView.com

I suspect you may still have problems. Email was not intended to be a
method of sending large files. Many internet service providers restrict the
total size of a single email (with attachments) and so you may not be able to
send it if the files are still larger than 5 or 10 MB, or the recipient may
not be able to receive it.

An option would be to send the files through a service such as USendIt (
www.usendit.com ) which is set up for that kind of thing.

P.S. I sure hope both you and the people you're sending to have broadband!

i agree, EZthumnails is a great freeware, love the program for shrinking
photos for my webpage. But we shouldnt have to use an extra program for a
quick email to a friend , when XP , THE PREVIOUS version of windows, did a
great job at it. This really angers me that they would do this and not fix
it in the Windows updates..
