the calculation tab being changed and you didn't change it?
Has anyone ever experienced the calculation tab under tools/options, in Excel
being changed from automatic to manual, and you were not the one that changed it on your computer? |

I don't think it's ever happened to me personally, but I've seen many such
reports from time to time. Most seem to come from the Roswell, NM area, but other areas are affected. Ok, more seriously, - yes others have seemingly found it changed and they do not know how. The possibilities are myriad, from gremlins, to forgotten actions, to accidental actions, to code that set it differently and then didn't set it back, and of course, LGM could have done it - if you live near Roswell. Common problem......not yet fixed in 2007 version. ToolsOptionsCalculation can be Auto or Manual. Excel takes the Calculation mode each session from the settings on the first workbook opened in that session. i.e. If you saved Book1 with calc mode in manual and opened it first, calc mode would be in Manual. If you saved Book2 with calc mode in auto and opened it after Book1, Book2 would be in manual mode(Excel ignores the auto calc mode in this case). If you close Book1 before opening Book2, Book2 will be in auto calc mode. Confusing enough? <g Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:37:25 -0800, Sandra M. <Sandra wrote: Has anyone ever experienced the calculation tab under tools/options, in Excel being changed from automatic to manual, and you were not the one that changed it on your computer? |

Sandra,
If you're opening multiple workbooks in Excel, here are some caveats. As Gord said, if the first workbook opened is set to manual, subsequent concurrently opened workbooks be in manual calc. Not outraged yet? If you save any of the workbooks, they'll be saved with the manual setting. That may be what's happening to you. And there's nothing on the screen to warn you that calc is set to manual. You have to be real careful opening multiple workbooks in Excel. They plan to fix this in the year 2057. -- Earl Kiosterud www.smokeylake.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Gord Dibben" <gorddibbATshawDOTca wrote in message ...
