Default keyboard characters

I am trying to select rows which have a % included and insert a "1" in a
helper column so that I can sort, simple???
When I attempt to enter "%" into the formula I get "96". The fact that I can
write this mewans the shift 5 % key works.
Help please--

Hmmm....

Check and see if there is an AutoCorrect setting for that:
