I have an Excel Worksheet that opens as "Read Only" for 1 person. All the
other users can open it normally. I have verified the permissions, and they are the same for all users. It does not matter what computer the user is on, as it is consistant for all computers. I have removed the user and re added the user and reapplied the permissions with the same results. Any ideas? (using Excel 2003). |

Excel works with windows pretty well.
If excel sees that the user has readonly permission to that drive/folder, then it'll open the file without a prompt. You will see [ReadOnly] in the titlebar, though. I'd have the user do a little test. Open Notepad Try to save that file to that location. I'm guessing that it will fail and you'll be able to go back to your IT staff and ask them to take another look at the permissions.
